China Glaze Tis The Season To Be Naughty or Nice Holiday 2010

Today I have for you, a few swatches from China Glaze's Holiday 2010 collection, Tis The Season To Be Naughty or Nice. There were about sixteen or so shades released (whoa!), so I couldn't afford to pick up every single shade. I ended up getting the gift packs, Cheers To You (with Cheers to You & Midnight Kiss), Rejoice (with Mistletoe Kisses & Mrs. Claus), and a bottle of Party Hearty. I also wanted to get Frosty (cream white with fine glitter), but I passed on it. Maybe I'll go back and see if I can snatch it up. Anyways, onto the five shades that I actually purchased.

Left to right: Cheers to You, Midnight Kiss, Mistletoe Kisses, Mrs. Claus, Party Hearty

Each bottle comes with a silver cap.

Now onto the swatches. (:

Cheers to You in natural light.

Cheers to You with flash.

Cheers to You is a silver metallic with a foil finish. It leans almost chrome, but lacks that highly reflective quality that you saw with China Glaze's Khrome collection. It's still pretty darn reflective, but not "mirror-like." There is slight visible brush stroke with this polish, but nothing too major. I actually didn't notice it unless I was having a staring contest with my nail. Aha. Here, I've shown Cheers to You with two coats, and no base or top coat.

Midnight Kiss in natural light.

Midnight Kiss with flash.

Midnight Kiss is a gold metallic with a foil finish, like Cheers to You. There is also some slight visible brush stroke, but again, nothing major. This polish is really shiny, and I don't think foil-lovers will be disappointed. Here it is shown in two coats with no base or top coat.

Mistletoe Kisses in natural light.

Mistletoe Kisses with flash.

Mistletoe Kisses is a green/silver glitter with a wintergreen jelly base. I had previously seen swatches on Body and Soul and All Lacquered Up, where it looked really light; however, when swatched on the nail... it comes out pretty dark. So try and recreate the lighter look, on the index finger, I have one coat of Mistletoe Kisses over a medium coat of China Glaze's White on White. The middle and ring finger, I have two coats of Mistletoe Kisses with no base or top coat. A third coat would make the polish much deeper in pigment. I think green polish fans should definitely run out and get this. It's so cute!

Mrs. Claus in natural light.

Mrs. Claus with flash.

Mrs. Claus is a dark pink glitter in a light pink jelly base. The light pink base builds up pretty fast, and becomes quite pigmented. Again, I've swatched it over one medium coat of China Glaze's White on White, like with Mistletoe Kisses, and followed over it with two coats of Mrs. Claus on my index finger. The middle and ring finger is three coats with no base or top coat. It's a really cute color, and I love it over white.

Party Hearty in natural light

Party Hearty with flash.

Party Hearty is a multi-colored and multi-sized hexagonal glitter in a clear base. The largest pieces are red, the medium pieces are green, and there are small hexagons of silver. This polish is reminiscent of Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday, but more festive and a lot cheaper. I'm pretty sure this is meant as a layering polish, but I've shown it over another polish and alone. On the index finger, I have one coat of Party Hearty over Cheers to You. On the middle finger is three coats of Party Hearty, on the ring finger is two coats, and on the pinkie is one. Three coats gives pretty good coverage, but not complete coverage... I think you could certainly wear this alone if you wanted. The bare nail that shows through isn't a big deal, and I think it's sort of cute that way too.

Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. I wasn't that impressed by the other shades that were released (I had similar or they were in colors I wouldn't wear often), but they're all great colors! Out of the ones I purchased, Mistletoe Kisses and Party Hearty were definitely my favorite. They're great, festive colors. The application of the polishes were easy for the most part (although I was impatient with Mistletoe Kisses and Mrs. Claus), and if you haven't picked up any of these shades yet, go out and do so! They should be available at Sally's Beauty Supply, or online at Transdesign.com or Victoria's Nail Supply (and other online retailers that carry China Glaze). Let me know what you think of these colors! And happy holidays!
